2nd Annual Holiday Aviary Tours! Don't miss this year's Holiday Aviary Tours, which will take place during the 3 weekends before Christmas. This is a chance for you and your family to come and wish all the birds at Wind Over Wings a Happy Holiday Season. Once again this year, the aviaries will be adorned with a holiday tree and festive decorations. Children are invited to bring pine cones laced with peanut butter or suet to hang on the trees around Wind Over Wings. No reservations needed. Tours this year are at the following times: Saturday, December 8th 12noon - 3:00pm Sunday, December 9th 12noon - 3:00pm Saturday, December 15th 12noon - 3:00pm Sunday, December 16th 12noon - 3:00pm Saturday, December 22nd 12noon - 3:00pm Sunday, December 23rd 12noon - 3:00pm Tour donations this year are: Adults $7.00 Children over 2years $5.00 Proceeds are used to feed the birds over the winter season Volunteers Needed! Because we expect a record number of visitors this year for our Holiday Aviary Tours, we invite you to make a gift to Wind Over Wings by volunteering with us for one of the six tour afternoons. Help is needed to greet guests, guide guests around the aviaries, and serve refreshments. Regular volunteers will be also be on hand every day. If interested, please call Wind Over Wings, at (860) 669-4004, and leave a message. A one-hour orientation for aviary tour volunteers will be held prior to December 8th. New volunteers are asked to attend an orientation on Sunday, November 25th, from 2:00pm - 3:00pm; OR Sunday, December 2nd, from 2:00pm - 3:00pm. Directions to Wind Over Wings for Holiday Aviary Tours Coming on I-95: Take exit 64 (Horse Hill Road/Route 145).If you are coming from the New Haven direction, turn right at the end of the exit. If you are coming from the New London direction, turn left at the end of the exit. Directly ahead of you will be a blinking, red light. Turn right (Route 145 turns with you.) Go 1 ½ miles. On your right will be a sign reading, "Shoreline Gardens". *Turn DIRECTLY INTO their driveway. We share their driveway. Go up the hill, into the private drive. Pass a house with a long fence. You will see Hope Douglas' log cabin and the Wind Over Wings' sign as well as the aviaries. Coming from Route 9: Take exit 9 (Route 81) and turn right. Continue for about 15 miles, passing over I-95 to the light at Routes 81 and Route 1 (Main Street). Turn left. Pass the light at the Clinton Post Office. At the second light (Route 145) turn left. Go ¼ of a mile. On your left will be a sign reading "Shoreline Gardens". See * above.
